There are three basic forms of abuse you can encounter in abusive relationships and they are emotional, physical and sexual. It takes a very long time for a person to heal after it has been abused over and over again. To help them get through these hard times we have gathered some relationship quotes for people who have been abused:

• I saw a guy being really abusive to his girlfriend. She was asking people to help, but no one would. When he grabbed her, I tried to separate them, but he turned on me. I punched him and knocked him down. It wasn't a scandal; I was just doing what anybody should.

• He was the life of the party, but no one really knew how he was at home. He was degrading, called me 'woman', told me to 'shut up' often, he had a horrible temper, etc. He was really good at putting on a show for others.
• There is an ache in my heart for the imagined beauty of a life I haven't had, from which I had been locked out, and it never goes away.
• The human race tends to remember the abuses to which it has been subjected rather than the endearments. What's left of kisses? Wounds, however, leave scars.
